Grrrrrrr!
Already October!!!!!!!
But temperatures like in august. After the snow last monday....... It's very beautyful; blue sky, golden leaves, green grass and so on.
Wanted to show Julia on the orientation ride (swenglish?????) put unfortunately those pictures are hidden at the bottom of the dropbox. I'll try to get them out of there until next week. Well, last sunday Julia and riding friends from the valley went to Ötztal to participate on this event. Nice.
Here intstead the crop of the year. I'm glad we can buy our food in a store and that we are not depending on a good crop. We harvested a handfull of apples and a handful of tomatoes. I pickled the green ones. Got a jar full:-)

Friday
I just poured myself a glass of wine - because it's friday and I want to be prepared if Uffe calls. Like most fridays
, it's windy and rainy and soooo cosy in the house. Julia came home from Innsbruck, Niki will Skype soon, I guess, The dog is sleeping in a corner, horses in the barn, a fire in the open ( more or less) fireplace, a candle. I like autumn!
Went for a long ride today. Yesterday too. Feels good.

Tomorrow morning we will have a Formula 1 qualyfying breakfast. At 6.45 am.

Cousins
It's already october and I'm not even ready with my august review!
Well, after all those guests, we loaded the family, including dog, into the car and headed for Sweden. Niki had the most luggage, as he had to pack for 4 months, the rest of us only for a week. This is where we left him, after that week in Bastad.( 6400 Sönderborg, DK - if somebody is interested.......)

During the week in Bastad, we met relatives.

With cousin Kajsa & co we had a nice little pic-nic on Hovs Hallar.

Camilla invited us for supper.

Victor gave us a hard time on the go-cart track :-)
Same procedure as every year. Thank you everybody!

More guests
After Ansa, Elisabeth and Nora came cousin Mercy, from Atlanta, and her husband Peter. Mercy and Peter Wright. Mercy is a cousin from Father's side, daughter of his brother Greger. I have never met Mercy before, I only "took over", her, so to say, from Emy's adressbook. I'm glad I did and I'm so glad she and Peter followed my invitation and dropped by, for two nights. Even Uffe came, all the way from Budapest, just to see them. Great!!!!

At the same time, my good friend (a horsy one) Beate, from Mülheim on the Ruhr, happened to be in Tannheim, with a friend of hers, in turn. We had an aperetive on the horsepasture.

And today is the day - why Emil and I went for a motorbike trip, with the motto "not for sissies". Emil carved this heart into a tree, somewhere in France, west of Millau. I think I would find it again......

Before we left
Before we left towards south, on the bikes, we had many nice day aswell, I recall. As I wasn't able to download any pictures in August it wasn't funny to blogg. I'll try to catch up on that today, as it is such a nice rainy day, perfect for indoor activities.
We had some guests, for example Aunt Ansa and cousin Elisabeth, with daughter Nora

Here at the traditional haying pic-nic at Vilsalpsee.Nice and helpful guests, I must say.

We had a real good time together. Aunt Ansa is fit as a fiddle ( but upthere is cousin E in action), ran up and down the mountains like a stonegoat, played games and stayed up talking and laughing until late.

I thinke I will continue with the next guests tomorrow or so. Niki just let me know it's time to skype. He's in Denmark at Southern Denmark University in Sönderborg right now, as I might have written.

Back home!
16 days, 4 768 kilometers, uncountable altimeters and turns, great impressions. 12 nights in tent, 3 in hotel, 1 in youthhostel. Highest temperature 34° C, lowest 3,5° C. Highest point 2.757 m, lowest 0. Two days with some rain, the rest mostly sunny. That's the summary of Emil's and mine motorcycle journey to and through the Pyrénées. And back! Our long planned silverweddingjourney (25 years!) (OMG!!!).

The zeropoint was St.-Jean-de-Luz, France, where we rested for one day. The only day we didn't drive at all, enjoyed a lazy day on the beach instead.

This is a typical Pyrénéean pass; nothing! I love "nothing"!!!!!

Typical campsite. Most of the camping areas were more or less empty.

Typical breakfast: café au lait et croissant. And postcardwriting.

For lunch we mostly had a pic-nic.

In the evening we visited restaurants with local specialties. On a real adventure trip one just HAS to eat half a rabbit! (Andorra)

One morning we went for a hike in a canyon. Congost de Mont-Rebei, Spain.

What luck we didn't pack in our rain suits for nothing :-)
Well, now everything is back to normal and we (at least I) have always started to plan for our golden wedding journey (50years). I think the Transsiberian Railway would be nice. If it still exists........
T.
We're off!
Tomorrow Emil and I will start our silverwedding trip. Towards the Pyrenees. We plan to stay out until the 21st of September. Let's see how far we get.........
When I'm back; I'll try to write some more in my blogg.
Have a good time out there.
See ya!

.

Ha, ha - it works again. At last!! Look - me and my brother RAGNAR.
Thank's for coming, Ragnar.
Sunshine
Everybody's at home. We are haying a steep meadow today. If we are ready in time, we plan on a visit to the Medieval Festival in Reutte/ Castle Ehrenberg tonight.,
Monday aunt Ansa will visit us for a week, in company of cousin Elisabeth with daughter Nora. Hurra! Anybody else who want to come? You're welcome!!!!!
T.
No pictures!
Just tried to put in a picture her. No success, as you can see - or rather NOT see. In 10 days cousin Elisabeth comes for a visit, with daughter My, and aunt (my aunt) Ansa. Maybe she can help me :-) Kind of boring without pictures.
But never the less, I'll do my very best with words. By the way, the photos I intended to insert, showed me and Emil on the top of Zugspitze (2950 m), blue sky, wind in the hair (at least mine....), wearing motorbike clothing.
Today it's raining. Again....... We have had a lot of rain this summer, so far. But sunshine too, of course, At the beginning of the week we even managed to make some more hay. There is still quite an amount to be done, though.
It IS booooring without pictures. I'm annoyed and my inspiration is GONE! I better go bake an Apfelstrudel, to cheer up:-)
Cheerie-oh! Have a nice weekend, out there

What I'm soooo busy with :-)
Well, right now I'm waiting for my badge of dow to grow. I've decided to bake buns. We have bunbaking weather today, buneating weather tomorrow and on monday we will probably have them (if there are any left....) with hot chocolate; we might get snow in the mountains. Brrrrr. The flies too, dislike the chilly weather and are waiting around the front door, to slip in when it opens. And I have to kill those nasty beasts! They intrude in my territory so I feel I have the right to kill them :-( I always warn them before, and tell them to get out, but they won't listen to me. Maybe the flies think I am the intruder?! Maybe they have lived here for generations, and feel they have to chase me away?! Interesting topic :-) I've been around looking for the one and only really good flycatcher, for outdoor - unsuccessfully:-(
I don't kill flies all day long, no - I work too: partly in the high rope garden in Nesselwängle, where to I go by bike, 10 km. I wonderful way to start the day, by the way. www.kletterwald-tannheimertal.at Nice job :-) Sometimes I help a guy with what he calls Mountain Adventure, mostly guests from Hotel Rot Flüh. Nice job aswell - quite relaxing and well payed :-) Then I have kids coming for rides, now and then. Can't work too much thought, because then I wouldn't have any time left for relaxing in our new hammock. What a waste wouldn't it be to buy a new bright wonderful hammock and nobody would lay in it!? We had warm weather too, of course. Subtropic. With thunderstorms everyother day. Luckily now hail, as in other (nearby) regions. We have only brought in smaller part of the hay, and are now waiting for an "Azore High" And I have tried out our lakes. Once Haldensee, 18°, once Vilsalpsee 16°. If I had known it was THAT cold, I would never have got in there, but once you have started there is no return..... Even Pontiac thought it was cold. Niki started, I we had to follow :-)
At least one hour aday I make gymnastics good for my spine. That's important. If I wouldn't do that, I would probably not be able to hike up to Usseralpe, with poles, in 38min 50 sec :-) Of course I always have to take my new red bike for rides. The horses, I ride too, some, or longline them, Julia still has some UNI work (lab) in Innsbruck, and a test today, Niki makes is on a trainee programme in Multivac. A packingmachineproducing company, near Reutte. Tonight, right now, he's with Emil in the forest, bringing down logs from the hill. You need nasty weather for that - then they slide down better. Tomorrow they go up and bring them to the forest road, where they can get loaded. We already have to think about keeping warm in winter!

Soooo busy
This site is llooking suspicious. Better do not write much more, other wise I have to write bad words again ( but actually I only quoted Goethe!) and I do not have time to write anyhow, as Emil and I should be off for some 100 year Tourism Tannheim jippo at seven!.
I migth give it an other try tomorrow again. Except I#m toooo busy. Killing flies for example :-)
T.
Grrrrrr.....
Jag skrev just ett jättefint jättelangt inlagg och PUFF!!!!! - allt försvann när jag skulle stoppa in den jättefina bilden.
Leck mich am ARSCH!!!!!
Glad midsommar pa er allihop där ute, i alla fall!

"Father-day" with wellingtion weather

Often "Father's Day" is forgotten. Not so in Schmieden 11 :-) I baked, Julia decorated, Niki was d'accord. Without fathers ther would be no mothers!
Emil and I went for a morningwalk, after breakfast. It has been raining heavily all night long, and we should better have taken our rubber boots. But we managed it in hiking shoes too, balancing on stones and treetrunks.

Lots of flowers around, this time of year. These are going to be sheep food. We fenced them here this afternoon.

This is behind Vilsalpsee, towards the cascade. Today there were even more than one cascade :-) And old avalanges laying around. During the wintermonths it's too dangerous to walk in here - until a couple of weeks ago, actually.
Right now we are watching F1, Emil and I. JuNi are gone to Innsbruck. Their friend Slobodan, from Tannheim aswell, has bought a car so my delivery- and pickup tours to Innsbruck has gotten more seldom. For Nikis part it's the last week at school, Julia still has some excursions and lectures.
I seemed to have pushed some button I didn't want to. Wonderung what's gonna come out.....????

Following up yesterdays insert
Yesterday I never came to the point (out of my point of view) in my "Lucky Me" insert. How I can claim to be lucky to have a brakedown?! This is why: it could have happened on the autobahn on our way to Sweden, car full loaded with the four of us plus dog, in heavy rain and darkness. I could have stumbeled over slow, incompetent, unfriendly persons. I could have missed my appointment with the osteopath ( hard to get an app. at all...) I could have been given some boring, ugly and small car and could even have been charged for it. Aren't those reasons to consider oneself lucky? And the garage gave us back our car washed inside and out-. And that for free!!! I mean the carwash......

Have a nice weekend, out there, everybody!

Lucky me

In the last insert, I made a mistake and put in two pictures of lamb Lyssander ( called "Creamy" by Julia, which Niki dislikes). Following lamb Fewa (Wolle) was insulted, so here she is - the wooly littlw FeWa. The two guys, next to Niki, got castrated two days ago. At the moment they're not happy at all, poor guys, but maybe (hopefully) they think the situation over when they found out that they don't have to fight each other all day long. After the operation, in our barn, I invited the vet for a whisky ( actually I said " what a pity you don't have a chauffeur today, otherwise I would offer you a whisky) But as he just loves a GOOD whisky and drink and drives, we had two. He is one of the very few persons I would offer a glass of my good Scotch.
Right now I enjoy the evening sun, a glass of white wine and relax after one of these fabolouse catholic holiday when you are supposed to be lazy all day long, Of course we went biking, Emil and I. First mountainbike, then motorbike. Emil and Niki just returned from an evening motorbike tour, Julia sits in an another sunny corner and watches ice hockey. Stanley Cup. Los Angeles Kings are about to win the pokal. Pittsburghs Penguins got kicked out a loooong time ago. The L.A. Kings are Julias substitute favvos.
It's getting cloudy. Today we had summer, tomorrow it's gonna be cold again.

Look! Fresh pictures! Sensation!!!!!! Niki and Emil went to Austrias smallest village, Gramais. Niki is wearing my outfit!
Now I have to tell the story about lucky me; the other day, tuesday one week ago, now, I went to Füssen to pick up a package at Evi's place (our german ebayaddress) As I left, a quarter to 11, the car beeped and blinked as crazy and made me understand something is wrong with the brakes. As it didn't smell and I was able to stop I went on to our VW garage in Füssen, where we alway had the service done. I was in a hurry. I had an appointment at 11.30 in Reutte, another 20 km to go. Osteopathie. Good, interesting thing, by he way! Help! I parked right outside the entrance door, stormed in (with dog) and told them my car has gone crazy and I have to be in Reutte in 35 minutes. Everybody smiled, a guy stormed out with a laptop, connected it with the car and told me I could not continue. Fast, bring the lady a car! A car with room for the dog! A receptionist(girl) dashed off, returned with a brand new ((1100km) Passat with automatic, tip-tronic and and and......... Dog in, off I went and 11.30 sharp I arrived at my osteopath, Sabine Postler, a very nice lady, trying to fix my back & co. She's good:-)
Lucky me :-)

Looooong weekend

This is our new Friggebod - at least it's going to be it when it's ready.

Today was sunny, windy, not too warm, reminded me of Sweden. Nice :-)
-Emil was at work. Niki, Julia and I cleaned the paddock, mucked out the sheep house, among other things.
Tonight Emil and I are invited to a birthday party. To be on the safe side, we'll go by bike.......
Happy Whitsun Holiday everybody!

May 24

The masterpiece! Doesn't look exactly as in the cookbook - but it's similar - and Niki was content :-)
